The Matariki style of late harvest wine is to avoid overly sugary renditions in favor of balance. In this, the 2000 succeeds admirably, combining bergamot, pineapple and apricot flavors in a lightly sweet yet tart wine. Best with fresh fruit and cheeses, as it's not rich enough to match with anything sweeter.——J.C.(8/1/2003)—— 87
