Beautiful aromas of cherries, mint and strawberry bush with hints of licorice, cloves, nut shell and tea leaves. Medium- to full-bodied with firm and crunchy tannins and lots of vibrancy to the fruit. So juicy and attractive. Drinkable now but better in two years.

A rich, round red, with mint, menthol and licorice aromas and flavors framing a core of cherry and plum fruit. Shows ample tannins on the back end, but the ripe fruit returns in the end. The 2017 Barbaresco Reyna is a fresh and balanced expression of Nebbiolo. It opens to a pretty bouquet of blue flowers and lilac backed by wild cherry and cassis. Background aromas include aniseed, tar and licorice root. The wine is tight and structured in terms of mouthfeel with a bit of snap or crunch on the young tannins.

Menthol and eucalyptus aromas and flavors mark this intense red, picking up cherry, plum and sweet spice notes as this builds to a lingering finish. The 2016 Barbaresco Reyna represents a blend of fruit from various vineyard sites. The Michele Chiarlo estate owns seven hectares of Nebbiolo in Barbaresco, and this wine is conceived as an expression of a grape, rather than any one particular vineyard site. In fact, the wine is classic Barbaresco, with fine fruit flavors followed by slightly more accessible or silky tannin (when compared to Barolo), making it a great pairing with a grilled sirloin.
