The 2009 Morlanda Blanc is a blend of 85% Garnacha Blanca and 15% Macabeo with 30% of the wine barrel-fermented. The nose offers up a hint of buttered popcorn but tropical fruit, especially pineapple, and waxy melon notes take the lead. The palate displays incipient complexity and there is enough structure to support another 2-3 years of cellaring. This nicely proportioned effort can be approached now but will be in its prime from 2013 to 2017. Importer: Freixenet USA; www.freixenetusa.com
