The 2007 Muddy Water James Hardwick Riesling contains a little botrytis and was fermented in stainless-steel tanks down to 15 grams per liter residual sugar. It has a simple, waxy nose with lanolin and beeswax. The palate is light with touches of apricot and orange zest. Medium length with good balance, delicate and pretty with a touch of rosewater on the aftertaste, this is a commendable Riesling. Muddy Water is one of Canterbury’s most respected wine producers, established by Michael and Jane East in 1993, debuting with their 1997 vintage. Given that the difficulty of the growing season forced Muddy Water to source 31% of the Chardonnay fruit from Nelson and 55% from Marlborough, the 2005 Chardonnay is a great success.Importer: Via Pacifica, Sebastopol, CA; tel.
