The Nada Giuseppe 2015 Barbaresco Riserva Casot shows an extra year of cellar age and comes from a vintage that was very bright and fruit forward to begin with. This is a silky and polished wine with a steady delivery of classic aromas of wild berry, forest floor, crushed stone and crushed aniseed. The texture is soft and pliant, wrapping around the palate with medium consistency. This Riserva is open and accessible, drinking beautifully straight out of the gate, ideally with a pheasant or other game fowl. A mere 1,900 bottles were made.

The Nada Giuseppe 2009 Barbaresco Riserva Casot is a dark and savory wine that was already deep into its evolution when I tasted it upon release. The bouquet is redolent of barbecue smoke, cured tobacco and bresaola. Some of those smoky notes are a bit muddled, but the wine is ultimately anchored in the dark prune and plum that remain at its core.

A Riserva Barbaresco from the Casot cru, this pretty wine delivers dark wood and toasted nut along with earthy aromas of porcini mushroom and old leather. There’s an aged quality to the fruit as well that appears as cassis syrup and dried prune.——M.L.(9/1/2011)—— 88

This light and compact Barbaresco Riserva offers ethereal notes of spice, root beer, white berry and wet earth. There’s a hint of clove, cinnamon and natural rubber as well and the wine is smooth, polished and firm on the close.——M.L.(12/1/2010)—— 88
