Packing serious muscle just beneath the surface, this needs time to unfurl the full range of mineral density. The lengthy finish is framed by bitter apple skin tannins. Firm, dense and focused, this is screaming with mineral energy. Packs green herb and crisp apple notes that emerge from a bed of crushed flint, singed sage and bay leaf. Smoky and compact, with nice fattiness on the palate, this is driven by electric lemon-lime acidity. Linear and serious, with a long life ahead in the cellar. Starts on the slightly austere side, but opens up with air, expressing a mineral element that is joined by complex flavors of white peach and grapefruit allied to a supple texture. This has a vibrant structure that keeps it all intact, cruising to a long, floral- and stone-filled aftertaste. Needs more time, but should develop beautifully. Tasted as a sample in April, the intensely yellow colored 2019 Riesling Kastanienbusch GG is pure, fine and elegant on the intense, flinty and herbal-scented nose. Full-bodied, intense and juicy on the palate, this is a pure, salty, linear and elegant dry Riesling with very fine phenols and good structure. Not as electrifying at this very early stage but with substance and structure. To be tasted again in September this year.

Lavish notes of kumquat, passion fruit and persimmon open up this friendly yet very complex version. Notes of savory mineral and spice join midpalate, followed by heather and pine that add allure. This is very vibrant, almost electric, but with a silky texture and expressive flavor profile. Give it more time for the best experience.
