The 2007 Expatriate Shiraz was sourced from 65 year old vines yielding a meager 1 ton per acre of fruit. The wine spent 20 months in 100% new French oak. Purple-colored, it displays an expressive nose of toasty new oak, scorched earth, pencil lead, espresso, violets, and assorted black fruits. This is followed by a full-bodied, velvety textured, rich Shiraz with enough well-concealed tannin to evolve for 2-3 years. This round, savory, lengthy effort will drink well through 2022. It is a superb wine from a challenging vintage.Importer: Epicurean Wines, Seattle, WA; tel. (206) 923-1376
