Aromas of sour cherries and cranberries with hint of citrus peel, dried flowers and ground spices. Juicy and vivid with medium body and chalky tannin structure. Fresh and floral. Better from 2025.

The 2020 Barbaresco Meruzzano has a spicy and savory bouquet that recalls grape skins and stems. There is sweet pulpy fruit from the warm vintage, but overall, this wine is loaded with primary intensity and a grapey or vinous quality that underlines the wine's youth and accessibility. It closes with garden herb or eucalyptus oil. Some 20,000 bottles were made.

The Orlando Abrigo 2019 Barbaresco Meruzzano shows a delicate embroidery of rose, dark berry, tar and crushed stone. The Meruzzano MGA in Treiso sits at a breezy 350 to 400 meters in elevation with sun-drenched south and southwest exposures. The soils are characteristic calcareous marl. This wine is delicate and fine in texture with an almost weightless quality that ultimately gives more prominence to those elegant aromas. Production is 21,000 bottles and you get good value.

The 2018 Barbaresco Meruzzano is fruity and delicately spicy at the same time, with lots of wild berry that is supported by licorice and tarry smoke. This wine draws its fruit from Treiso from a 4.2-hectare site with slightly heavier clay soils and southwest exposures. These factors add to the fruit weight and the wine's basic structure. We're looking at a production of 18,000 bottles.

The Orlando Abrigo 2017 Barbaresco Meruzzano is a pretty and delicate expression with aromas of forest berry, rose hip and root licorice. These results are tonic and tight, and the wine shows the balance and energy that gives you confidence in its staying power and ample food-pairing versatility. The tannins are extra tight at this young stage, and I would suggest another year or two of cellar aging.
