Displaying a deep magenta core and dark ruby rim, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon DuBrul Vineyard offers inky purple flowers, plum reduction, black cherry skin and graphite elements in the glass. Medium to full-bodied, the palate feels compressed and subdued before offering fuzzy tannins that grip the gumline. The Cabernet concludes with lasting flavors of bitter black tea and blackberry skin. Only 912 bottles were made after the wine rested for 20 months in French oak, 55% first fill.

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon DuBrul Vineyard, blended with 4% Malbec, immediately shows an impressive depth of juicy black fruit and dark red berry essence. Aromas of blackberry jus, dusty cherry skin, dried herbs, sweet tobacco and red and purple flowers effortlessly float out of the glass. Full-bodied, the wine is generous and layered with a complexity that continues to evolve with a dusty characteristic, showing some tight tannins right now that grip the gum line but will loosen in a few years. The wine ends a dark berry essence and a spice element that grows in amplitude, along with subtle hints of black tea and bitter dark chocolate. Nicely made.

The wine starts off a touch more tight and compact than the Red Willow Cabernet of the same range. The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon DuBrul Vineyard has a rich and structured nose with a mineral rigidity that will make it an excellent pairing with grilled red meats. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is precise and finessed on the palate, with a mineral focus of wet river rock along with some oaky flavors and soft herbal spices. It has a clean line of acidity and tannin through to the finish that will ensure the longevity for more than a decade. 236 cases produced.

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon DuBrul Vineyard is clipped, fleeting and lacking in character, concluding with a simultaneously chewy and dilute finish. It's not a success.

A pretty, mid-weight effort that offers plenty of cassis, violets, and rose petal aromas and flavors, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon DuBrul Vineyard is medium-bodied, pretty and polished, but comes up short on depth and richness. Drink bottles through 2023.
