The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Garenne exhibits aromas of pear, peach, fresh mint, toasted nuts and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, ample and charming, with an open, giving profile and a bright, saline finish, it has turned out nicely.

The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Garenne reveals aromas of orchard fruit, smoke, bread dough and white flowers, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and lively palate that's open-knit and elegantly textural.

One of the more extroverted, racy wines in the lineup, the 2011 Puligny-Montrachet Clos De La Garenne bursts from the glass with plush, exotic fruit. Lychee, honey and sweet floral notes wrap around the inviting, open finish. The Clos De La Garenne is rich, deep and highly attractive. Anticipated maturity: 2012+. Pernot bottled all of the 2011s in late June, the earliest I know of in Burgundy, especially for the higher-end appellations. Because of the early harvest, the fermentations were done quickly. The wines were racked into tank in March for fining, where they stayed until they were bottled. This is a very pretty set of 2011s that offers considerable early appeal.
