This shows notes of raspberry bush, dried herbs, lavender and walnuts. Medium-bodied with firm tannins, that are polished and velvety. Juicy red fruit comes through and leads this to a mellow, savory finish. Try from 2025.

The 2019 Barbaresco offers a slightly spicy and savory expression of Nebbiolo. It is unusual in that it shies away from the more obvious varietal tones of wild berry and rose and instead embraces tar, grilled herb and peppercorn. This vintage has tight, almost astringent tannins and a textured close.

There is a lightness and airiness to this red, whose cherry, strawberry, earth and tobacco flavors mesh nicely. Its tannins are moderate too, leaving a dusting on the finish. The Pertinace 2012 Barbaresco opens to a brawny, blackish appearance followed by thick layers of cherry and blackberry fruit. This wine shows a very satisfying automatic profile, with noticeable intensity and moderate complexity.
