Syrah is making great strides in central Italy. The 2013 Syrah shows warm fruit tones with dark cherry, blackberry, cured meat and savory spice. The wine is balanced, forthcoming and sincere in terms of its aromatic offerings. It offers soft, fruity intensity with pure cherry and berry essences that give life and buoyancy to the finish. It's a simple and compact wine that plays all its cards in expert fashion.

Poggio al Sole’s 2007 Syrah is a pretty, juicy red bursting with dark, black fruit. The wine shows plenty of concentration and length but not a ton of varietal character. The 2001 Syrah offers black pepper, black fruit, and ground meat in its aromatics plus an attractive suppleness in its flavors.
