The 2011 Damalisco Crianza is produced with Tempranillo from 30- to 60-year-old vineyards. The description of how it’s made sounds quite interventionist (selected yeasts, micro-oxygenation) but the wine is quite straightforward and ripe, with notes of blood, prunes, lactic and spicy hints and plenty of oak-related aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with dusty, grainy tannins, quite oaky and ending with a warm sensation. 55,000 bottles produced. Drink now-2015.
