This is Roessler’s top Pinot Noir of the vintage. It shows the richness and silkiness of all their bottlings, but with a concentration that makes it especially impressive. Tough and gritty in youth, this Pinot is showing edgy tannins, tart acidity and unincorporated oak. It’s almost like a barrel sample. But it’s stuffed with currant, licorice and mocha flavors, and should develop well in the bottle. Try after 2009.——S.H.(5/1/2009)—— 90
