The 2008 Ciliegiolo San Lorenzo emerges from the glass with sweet red cherries, mint, flowers, spices and licorice. This is a mid-weight San Lorenzo built on energy, vibrancy and freshness more than sheer body, all qualities that are typical of the year. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016.
Sassotondo is another of the Tuscan properties that routinely turns out fabulous wines but seems to get little recognition. The estate has made a speciality of Ciliegiolo, a native red variety that is not seen too often.
