The 2008 Illusionist is made up of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Syrah aged for 23 months in 60% new French oak. It sports an inviting nose of cedar, exotic spices, lavender, wood smoke, plum, and black currant. In the glass it opens to reveal layered black fruits, ample fine-grained tannins, an elegant, racy personality and 2-3 years of aging potential. This tasty effort will provide pleasure through 2020. Sleight of Hand Cellars began in 2007 coming out of the chute with some superb values, wines which are easy to spot on retail shelves because of their bright, magician-themed labels. There are two white wines among the current releases.Tel. (509) 386-6566; www.sofhcellars.com
