The 2021 Syrah Levitation opens with a dark-fruited nose layered with meaty and spicy elements of summer sausage, plum compote, notions of red and black spices and hints of lavender and dried herbs. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is juicy, mineral and fresh with elegant umami essence, pure expressions of blackberry skin and dried herbs and a firm tannic edge. The wine concludes with a long-winding and stony finish. It's a fantastic wine that will benefit from being paired with food.

Instantly impressive in the glass, the 2019 Syrah Levitation bursts with an earthy and ripe core of blackberry jus, baked earth and spiced plum compote as delightfully savory aromas sway on the nose. Full-bodied and laden with umami, this dense and chewy wine offers sweet oak flavors of vanilla and mocha, spicy black peppercorn flavors meld with a Chambord pop and a gleam of a smoky frame that somersaults over the ever-evolving finish. Bravo!

Made from 100% Syrah from the Lewis vineyard in Yakima and Les Collines vineyard in Walla Walla, the 2018 Syrah Levitation is almost opaque at the core, with dark-stained tears. It bursts out of the glass with aromas of smoked summer sausage, blackberry reduction, violets, black cherry and dusty plums with black pepper notes. Full-bodied, the wine is layered, complex and precise. The palate is currently packed with red and blackberry tones, black pepper and tight mineral tension. It ends with a long, lingering finish with persistent flavors of black pepper, spiced plum and blackberry reduction. It's hard to beat this expression of quality at this price.

Classic Syrah on the nose, the 2017 Syrah Levitation opens with a clean core of black fruit, savory tones of smoked sausages and subtle oak spices. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, the minerality and chewy fruit core head toward a balanced structure with lively tannins. The wine ends with a fresh finish that lingers with a spicy edge. 750 cases produced.

The 2016 Syrah Levitation is showing well, wafting from the glass with aromas of blackberries, grilled meat, juniper and burnt sage. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and velvety, with low acidity, ripe tannins and a deep core of fruit. Open-knit and generous, drink it over the next 5 or 6 years.
