Tasted as a barrel sample, the 2021 The Archimage is aging in just over 40% new oak. Juicy, fresh and ripe with healthy, polished dark red and black fruit aromas, the wine is softly herbal with delightfully dusty florals. Medium to full-bodied, it will be a blockbuster when released and will have no trouble filling its shoes. Get in line for this ripe, juicy and pure expression of The Archimage. It is set to be bottled this June and then should be released in spring 2024.

Bright, fresh and juicy with notes of sage, dried herbs and oak, the 2020 The Archimage offers dusty florals and notes of blackberry skin. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is fresh and mineral with a clean and correct palate, a pure and sincere mouthfeel and a balanced structure, ending with a fresh, food-friendly finish. It’s a delightful wine that will age gracefully for 15 years or more.

Made from a blend of 52% Cabernet Franc and 48% Merlot, the 2018 The Archimage opens to soft aromas of red bell pepper with juicy dark and red fruit essences that sway with sweet oak and dusty blossoms. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is balanced with a firm core of fruit that displays fine-grained tannins with a juicy and umami focus that will remain food-friendly for a decade. It ends with a boozy finish.

The 2017 The Archimage, a blend of 52% Cabernet Franc and 48% Merlot, gives up aromas roasted red bell pepper, juicy plum, dusty currant, and hints of baked clay and exotic red flowers. Medium to full-bodied, the wine lands on the palate with focus and finesse, showing a balanced structure with fine-grained tannins. Showing elements of red plum and black cherry, the wine ends with a lingering dusty potpourri essence on the finish. The wine aged in French oak barriques for 22 months, of which 40% were first use. It’s delightful. 7,600 bottles produced.

A blend of 57% Cabernet Franc and 43% Merlot, the 2016 The Archimage offers up aromas of orange rind, red-black fruits and tobacco leaf, followed by a medium-bodied but lavishly textural, expansive palate that concludes with a saline, mouthwatering finish. It's still youthfully chewy but should be drinking well with only a year or two of cellaring.
