Planted in 1998, this vineyard is relatively new to Solena’s lineup. Plenty of toast and Bourbon-barrel scents lift the open, with a hint of sharpness from the alcohol. Though only a quarter of the barrels were new, the spice and coffee accents are in full display, wrapped around tart red fruits. An earthy bottom, hinting at forest and mushroom, completes the experience. — (6/1/2012) —91

The vineyard name is a combination of the two prevalent soil types, Nekia and WillaKenzie. Along with sweet cherry fruit comes a defining minerality—a streak of iron running through the heart of the wine. Balanced nicely, with gentle acidity and sculpted tannins.
