Deeply colored in gold, this Chardonnay already is showing signs of premature aging. The pineapple and mango fruit is drying out, showing a nutty edge, as in cashews and macadamias. Oak sticks out a bit clumsily. ——S.H.(10/1/2011)—— 85

This super-ripe, oaky, leesy Chardonnay lacks subtlety, but packs plenty of power. It’s enormously forward in apricot and pineapple fruit, with the custard, buttered popcorn and caramel flavors that come from barrel fermentation. Finishes with a brown sugar sweetness.——S.H.(11/1/2010)—— 86
