Cotta is an important vineyard in the township of Neive, where Nebbiolo tends to be a bit more powerful than at Barbaresco, and the 2000 Barbaresco Cotta confirms this. The intense aromas of roses, licorice, tar, and oak spices are followed by a potent palate, concentrated, dense, and long, but rather tightly wound and backward at the moment. I am confident of the future of this wine, but would prefer to wait a bit – drink 2006-2018.
