Dry and earthy with a reserved character. Notes of walnut, bark and red cherries in the background. Medium body. It’s linear and lengthy with firm and chalky tannins and a lightly chewy finish. Drink after 2025.

The 2020 Barbaresco Fausoni offers a lot of brightness and an especially linear style that can be traced to bright berry flavors and dusty mineral notes of crushed limestone. This wine gives us a good peek at the compelling nuance that can be coaxed forward with Nebbiolo aged in large oak casks, even in a hot and sunny growing season such as this. The wine concludes on a dry note. Some 5,000 bottles were made.

A rich and round style, this red boasts plum, cherry and black currant flavors, with accents of earth, iron and menthol. Well put-together, even if the tannins are dense and assertive on the finish. The 2019 Barbaresco Fausoni is a little more open and immediate compared to the other new releases in this portfolio of excellent wines. The bouquet is redolent of dried raspberry, cherry, sweet soil and candied lilac. This is an elegant and streamlined wine that embraces the elegance of Nebbiolo and the classic 2019 vintage.
