The easy-drinking 2020 Chianti Classico is vinous and raw with lots of plump cherry and redcurrant. This well-priced blend of 90% Sangiovese with smaller parts Merlot and Colorino is made in cement only and flaunts lots of simple primary fruit as a result. An abundant 140,000 bottles were made, and you'd be right to pair this bottle with a simple pasta and tomato sauce.

The 2017 Chianti Classico shows overtly ripe aromas of blackberry confit and raspberry jam. The wine is thick, sweet, jammy and very much the product of a hot vintage, which of course describes 2017 to a tee. The tannins are soft and ripe, and there are informal notes of sweet tobacco and spice on the finish. It will work just fine with a pulled-pork sandwich.
