The 2001 Chianti Colli Fiorentini is a rather dark ruby/garnet with a spicy, floral, red currant nose, fresh, focused flavors, and few tannins which expand the texture and lengthen the flow. Drink: now-2008.
Lilliano (a property which has nothing to do with the well known Chianti Classico estate) is situated just outside of Florence, in the hills between the city and Chianti Classico. I have much enjoyed the recent wines, which stick to what they can do best – fragrance, elegance – rather than waste time in futile efforts at muscle flexing.
