The estate’s flagship Tenuta di Valgiano is rich, generous and inviting, but also a touch diffuse in 2007. Tar, smoke, soy, earthiness and incense are some of the nuances that emerge over time, adding complexity to the warm, dark fruit. This is an open, forward Tenuta that sweeps across the palate with generous fruit, but it comes across as unusually precocious and not built for the long term, while the aromatics aren’t as clean as they could be. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020. Importer: Beivuma Inc. Fine Italian Wines, Chicago, IL; tel. (773) 289 7513; Vineyard Road Inc., Framingham, MA; tel. (508) 532 1184
