The 2007 Primitivo is made in a super-racy style, with plenty of ripe fruit, sweet spices and herbs. It offers excellent length and balance, particularly at this price point. Primitivo is the Apulian name for Zinfandel. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2010. The deteriorating US dollar prompted importer Leonardo LoCascio to create Terre, his proprietary label of budget-friendly wines focused on the indigenous varieties of Southern Italy. The wines are made by local partner wineries, and the lots are selected by LoCascio and consulting oenologist Alberto Antonini. Today, the best of the wines are the Apulian Primitivo and Negroamaro.A Leonardo Lo Cascio Selection, Winebow, Montvale, NJ; tel. (201) 445-0620
