The 2004 Trus is 100% Tempranillo aged for 20 months in French oak. Purple-colored, it offers up a brooding bouquet of wood smoke, mineral, Asian spices, espresso, and blackberry. Full-bodied, restrained, and surprisingly elegant on the palate, it has the structure to evolve for 3-4 years. It is a solid but one-dimensional effort that will drink well through 2024 but there is nothing here to justify the hefty price.
Bodegas Trus makes only one wine from its organically farmed old–vine Tinta del Pais (Tempranillo) vineyard.
