As in previous years, this wine just isn’t that fresh and pure. The nose is briney, and the palate follows suit. There’s some chunky grapefruit to ponder, but there’s unavoidable pickled, vegetal notes come finishing time.——M.S.(8/1/2010)—— 82

Almost red in color, with sweet, juicy aromas of red fruits that bring to mind Beaujolais Nouveau. The palate is fairly unctuous for a rosado, with thick flavors of red apples, berry pie and sweet butter. For a fuller-bodied dry pink wine, it’s pretty hefty stuff.——M.S.(4/1/2007)—— 85

This winery does have a real name, “U Mes U Fan Tres,” but its distinctive labels appear with the moniker “1 + 1 = 3.” A terrific rose, the 2004 Rose of Cabernet Sauvignon is surprisingly dark-colored for a rose (moderate ruby). Displaying a huge, sweet bouquet of black currants, cherries, and dried herbs, it is a dramatic, bold, exuberant, medium to full-bodied, potent effort designed to be consumed with food rather than by itself.
