The 2008 Valdrinal SQR was aged in a mix of new and used French oak for 12 months. More expressive aromatically than the Crianza, on the palate it is a bit shallow and in need of more depth and concentration. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. The purple-colored 2006 Valdrinal SQR is 100% Tempranillo aged in barrel for 15 months. It has a bouquet of wood smoke, graphite, leather, lavender, and blackberry that leads to a full-bodied, dense wine with loads of savory fruit. Nicely balanced, it has a firm structure and enough ripe tannin to mandate another 4-5 years of cellaring. Drink this classy effort from 2013 to 2026.
