Bodegas Valle de Salinas’ 2009 Joven is an unoaked blend of Monastrell, Merlot, and Syrah. Purple-colored, it displays a fragrant bouquet of lilacs, spice box, and blue fruit compote that jumps from the glass. The 2005 Joven, bottled unfiltered for the importer, is 60% Monastrell, 20% Merlot, and 20% Syrah. Medium ruby-colored, it has an attractive bouquet of fresh thyme, pepper, spice box, red currants and cranberry. This is followed by a mouth-filling, medium to full-bodied wine with no hard edges. The deliciously fruity, up front 2004 Joven (a blend of Mourvedre, Tempranillo, and Merlot) exhibits a deep ruby/purple color along with a sweet perfume of candied black cherries, currants, and plums.
