The 2018 VT Tinto Fino was produced with grapes from the parts of the vineyard with a higher content of limestone. It fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in used barriques for 12 months and later in an 8,000-liter oak foudre. I was very surprised by the aromatics, elegant, floral and perfumed, with almost unnoticeable oak. It's medium to full-bodied, with power and structure but with freshness and the chalky texture from the limestone soils. This has personality. 11,282 bottles and 300 magnums produced. It was bottled in June 2020.

Also young and recently bottled, the 2016 VT Tinta Fina wants to be a vertical and mineral Tempranillo from the parts of the vineyard with a higher content of limestone. It has higher ripeness than the Gran Valtravieso from this same year. Full-bodied with chalky tannins and XL balance. 9,600 bottles were filled in June 2018.

The fragrant 2007 VT Tinta Fina is round and supple with very attractive, spicy flavors, excellent balance and 3-4 years of aging potential. It should offer prime drinking from 2014 to 2027. Valtravieso’s owners aspire to produce great wine in Ribera del Duero and seem willing to go to any expense to do so. The project began in 2003 and just now seems to be getting into the swing of things. I was shown a vertical tasting of the flagship VT Tinta Fina, a wine made entirely from Tinta Fina (Tempranillo) and aged in 100% new oak. No known American importer

The 2006 VT Tinta Fina is more structured than the 2007 but has ample fruit, excellent depth, and plenty of succulent fruit. It will blossom for another 5-6 years and provide pleasure through 2031. Valtravieso’s owners aspire to produce great wine in Ribera del Duero and seem willing to go to any expense to do so. The project began in 2003 and just now seems to be getting into the swing of things. The 2005 VT Tinta Fina has excellent aromatics but is exceptionally tannic on the palate. Whether it will ever come into balance is questionable.
