The entry-level 2017 Cannonau di Sardegna Sincaru is a sincere and honest wine with enough red fruit and cherry softness to pair with white meat or simple beef dishes. Aging occurs in non-toasted Slavonian oak casks, and that basic neutrality is transferred very nicely to this wine that flaunts ripe fruit and general freshness. This is a fruit-forward red wine sold at an affordable price. Some 30,000 bottles were made.

The Cannonau grape can sometimes taste rough around the edges, but the 2012 Cannonau di Sardegna Sincaru offers a good level of finesse and elegance. Cassis, forest floor, blackberry and crushed black pepper are all part of the aromatic makeup. The wine only sees contact with stainless steel and cement to lock in fruity freshness.

The 2008 Cannonau di Sardegna Sincaru shows the restrained side of this indigenous red grape in its layers of elegant fruit and expressive aromatics.
