The 2005 Raices de Aza is 100% Tempranillo sourced from vines ranging in age from 70-80 years in Ribera del Duero. It was aged in seasoned French and American oak for 12 months and bottled unfiltered. Opaque purple, it exhibits superb aromatics with notes of smoke, toast, mineral, black cherry, and blackberry. The last wine in this portfolio is the 2004 Raices de Aza, from a terrific vintage in Ribera del Duero. It is 100% Tempranillo from 70- to 80-year-old vineyards which are certified organic and worked biodynamically. The wine was aged for 12 months in used French and American oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Opaque purple-colored, the expressive nose offers elements of smoke, espresso roast, spice box, scorched earth, blueberry, and blackberry liqueur. The intensely spicy black fruit flavors are rich, layered, and mouth-filling with all components beautifully integrated. The pure finish lasts for nearly a minute.
