The 2009 Monile explodes from the glass with a heady concoction of smoke, graphite, blackberries, licorice and tar. This is a decidedly muscular, powerful wine from Viticcio. Ideally, the 2009 should be cellared for another year or two, but it will always remain a big, big wine in need of similarly rich foods. Monile is 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot that spent 18 months in oak. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024.
