The 2008 Pinot Noir Hannah Vineyard was aged in 50% new oak. Dark ruby red, it proffers an excellent bouquet of earth/underbrush, spice box, floral notes, red licorice, black cherry, and black raspberry. Medium-bodied, layered, intensely flavored, and structured, it manages to retain a sense of elegance. Drink it from 2012 to 2020. In this cooler vintage the wine is finished at under 13% alcohol—a rarity these days. It is a lovely wine, spiced with pine needle accents over cranberry and raspberry fruit. Acids are full but not biting, and the tannins proportionate. The return of elegance. ——P.G.(6/1/2010)—— 90

Hannah vineyard is a select block of Tualatin Estate, and carries the same set of herbal, pine needle aromatics. But the fruit is more intense, with deeper cranberry and raspberry flavors, more weight and a stiffer finish. The time in barrel adds clove and cinnamon to the mix.
