With some initial reduction, the 2011 Mira Salinas is a selection of Monastrell, Cabernet Sauvignon and Garnacha Tintorera from older vineyards on chalk soils that was aged in a combination of 225- and 500-liter oak barrels for 14 months. The nose shows some balsamic notes of esparto grass, Mediterranean herbs, spices and smoke enveloping a core of ripe black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe flavors and some tannins that would feel softer with food. Open and decant this wine in advance. 35,000 bottles produced.
