With respect to Andre Brunel's three current Chateauneuf du Pape releases, the 1993 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Cailloux blanc, which has been barrel fermented and bottled with minimal clarification, is about as good as white Chateauneuf du Pape gets. I am not a great fan of these monolithic, neutral-tasting wines, but this example offers a gorgeously ripe nose of honeyed tropical fruits, butter, and flowers, long, chewy, full-bodied flavors, a subtle touch of wood, and crisp acidity to keep everything fresh, vibrant, and well-focused. Drink it over the next year.Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; Tel. (202) 832-9083
