The 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Maltroie wafts from the glass with aromas of preserved lemon, buttered apples and ripe peach, framed by a generous application of nutty new oak which is better integrated than in the corresponding Chassagne-Montrachet Village. On the palate, however, the wine is on the edge of over-ripeness: full-bodied and generous, with barely adequate acidity. This is a white Burgundy to earmark for near-term consumption.
