Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2009 Shiraz offers earthy / meaty notes of damp loam, duck breast and smoky bacon over a black fruit core of blackberry preserves, warm black cherries and dried plums plus a dash of pepper. Full bodied with a medium to high level of rounded tannins, the concentrated black berry flavors are enlivened with crisp acid. It finished long and savory. Drinking now, it should keep though 2015.
