The 1998 Chateauneuf du Pape offers a terrific nose of spice box, cherry jam, pepper, and assorted berries. It is medium to full-bodied, with plenty of glycerin, moderately sweet tannin, a fat mid-palate, and a dense, thick, powerful finish. Already accessible, it promises to last for another 10-15 years.
