The 2014 Chianti Classico Belcanto is bursting with primary fruit aromas of cherry and fresh blueberry. The bouquet is delivered with evident intensity. This wine embraces its youth and its simplicity. The mouthfeel is rather lean, raw and uneventful, but there is nice freshness on the close. The blend is 90% Sangiovese with 10% mixed indigenous grapes, and the wine is aged briefly in tonneaux and cement. Fruit that was supposed to go to the Riserva went to this wine instead.
