The 2005 Shiraz (65%) – Mataro (35%) “Hubris” was aged in French and American oak puncheons, 50% new. It delivers aromas of spice box, clove, damp earth, pencil lead, black cherry, and blueberry. This is followed by a ripe, layered, structured wine with superb length. It merits 6-8 years of further cellaring and will drink well through 2025.
