Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Cazetiers has a much more simplistic bouquet than its peers, rather pinched, though it does open with aeration to offer brambly dark red fruit with just a very slight latte aroma. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grip, plenty of juicy red fruit with just a hint of cassis, segueing into a lightly peppered and pleasing finish. I was not totally convinced about this cru from Rousseau out of barrel and here under blind condition it did not stamp its authority amongst several Cazetiers from other growers. Tasted September 2016.
