Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, Chartron's 2014 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru les Folatières has a graceful, crisp bouquet with attractive scents of gunflint and smoke percolating through the citrus fruit. The palate is well balanced with a sappy opening that gets the saliva flowing. There is commendable weight to this Les Folatières with a brisk saline finish. Very fine, but I strongly suspect that bottle age will meliorate this further, so give it a couple of years.
