The single-vineyard 2005 Brunello di Montalcino Madonna delle Grazie reveals more intensity in color along with a darker profile in its aromas and flavors than the regular bottling. The Madonna delle Grazie is impressively endowed from a structural point of view and offers gorgeous volume in its black cherries, spices, smoke and licorice. As outstanding as this is, it isn’t appreciably better or more complex than the regular bottling, just different in terms of its personality, which is fairly bold and extroverted. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022.
Once again, I came away deeply impressed with the wines I tasted from Il Marroneto, a small property located to the north of the town of Montalcino.
