The 2014 Altar de Otazu was produced with Cabernet Sauvignon with malolactic in barrel and an élevage of 18 months. It rained and rained during the 2014 harvest (I was in Rioja, which is not that far away), and I remember it perfectly—the rain never stopped. The selection had to be even stricter, and they produced even fewer bottles. It has 14.5% alcohol, mellow acidity and a polished palate with some remaining tannins that would benefit from some powerful food. 3,633 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2016.
