The 2016 Savigny-lès-Beaune Village, which is blended with whatever survived from frost-affected premier crus, was quite dark in color. It has an engaging blackberry and bilberry scented bouquet with hints of wild hedgerow, conveying a fine sense of energy. The palate is medium-bodied with black fruit, a touch of cracked black pepper, hints of brine toward the marine influenced finish that lingers nicely in the mouth. It will probably need 2 or 3 years in bottle.
