The 2009 Arrocal Angel is from 60-year-old organically cultivated vines and aged for 20 months in new French oak. It has a lifted nose of blueberry and cassis fruit enveloped in vanilla-tinged new oak that is very upfront. The palate is medium-bodied and very plush on the entry: soft, sensual tannins with harmonious fleshy red berry fruit mingling with red currant and strawberry fruit. It is very forward and will be best drunk over the next 3-4 years. Drink now-2015. Bodegas Arrocal was founded in 1999 when Rosa and Moises Arrocal took over the family’s vineyard and expanded their holdings, constructing a gravity-fed winery in 2003. Their wines are matured mostly in French oak, approximately 80%, the remainder in American.Importer: Aurelio Cabestrero, Grapes of Spain, Lorton, VA; tel. (571) 642-0343
