Ambroise employed 50% new oak barrels (the balance 1st year) in crafting his wonderful 1997 Ladoix Les Grechons. This is one of the best white Ladoixs I have tasted. It reveals ripe pears and apples on the nose, followed by an exceedingly well-crafted, rich, unusually broad personality. Layers of white fruits, minerals, and gravel are found in this silky-textured, medium-bodied wine. Drink it over the next 4 years. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; tel.
