The 2009 Pinot Noir Equinox comes from the tenderloin of Mortimer’s holdings. It exhibits a brooding bouquet of sandalwood, exotic spices, incense, rose petal, black cherry, and black berry. In the glass it has excellent density, a velvety texture, a suave personality, and a 60-second finish. This nicely proportioned Pinot will evolve for 2-3 years and drink well through 2021+. It is one of the stars of the vintage.
Tom Mortimer has divided his Le Cadeau Vineyard into five parcels with each block produced by a different winemaker. It is a relatively young vineyard with plantings in 1999, 2002, 2006, and 2008.
